Dog training isn't about controlling dogs. It's about communication.
Every behaviour has a reason. Rather than asking "How do I stop my dog doing this?", I ask "Why is my dog doing this, and what would I like them to do instead?"
I believe dogs learn best when they feel safe, relaxed and motivated. Training should build confidence, strengthen the relationship between dog and owner and make everyday life easier for everyone.
I don't believe in intimidating dogs or relying on punishment. I want dogs to make good choices because they understand what is being asked and because working with their owner is rewarding.
Understanding before obedience
Many training methods focus purely on obedience. I believe understanding comes first. Once owners understand why their dog behaves in a particular way, the solution often becomes obvious.
Whether I'm helping with a puppy that bites, a dog that pulls on the lead or one that won't come back when called, my goal is always to teach both the dog and the owner.
Every dog is different
No two dogs are identical. Breed, genetics, early experiences, health and environment all influence behaviour. Because of that, every training plan should be tailored to the individual dog rather than following a rigid formula.
Positive reinforcement
Positive reinforcement isn't simply giving treats. It's about rewarding behaviours you want to see more often and making learning enjoyable. When dogs succeed, they become more confident, more attentive and more willing to learn.
My aim
I don't just want to solve today's problem. I want to give owners the knowledge and confidence to continue training for the rest of their dog's life.
